Also, once when I generated a town, a townie had the same name as the original voice actor for Ash Ketchum from Pokemon.

A townie called Scott Player, who has alien eyes, and are indeed a player, at least according to his five lovers.

My game's townie/NPC name generator seems to get stuck several times on Alec, Brenda, Brittany and Alan. I get relieved whenever I see a name that isn't one of these.

I have a Brenda Siew. How do you even say Siew?

I also have an Alan, but spelled the Hebrew way with the last name Sims. He has the same facial structure as Jessie Miguel and calls my sims a lot.

I always rename all of my townies to something silly!

I wound up making that name mod edit I mentioned I went for more modern names because I don't really like the 'puns' and such, so picked up the top 1000 most popular baby names in the US. Once I'd deleted any that I didn't like, I added a sprinkling of Japanese, African, Chinese, and Indian first names and surnames to the bunch. I didn't need to add to many as there were already a significant number of multi-ethnic names on that top 1000 list! Lots of Italian, Spanish and German names made it on there, with a handful of (misspelled) Irish ones. So I just wanted to round it out and make something really multi-cultural and current sounding, unlike GOOPY FLIPPING GILSCARBO.

I also kept the variations in spelling for a number of names (Layla, Leila, and Laila for example) because I liked that occasionally I might have two townies with the same name, but who spell it differently (since that seemed realistic to me, plus I liked the names in question.) My tastes are probably as weird as anyone's as far as this game goes, but I'm super excited to share the names of my first set of townies tonight. I think it's gonna be awesome.

I just don't like the name, and I think that's okay - whether there's a real person with it or not. Lots of people have names that I don't like, and I'm sure my real name is not ubiquitously loved (although I know I'm the only one with that exact name). Still, I feel like it's perfectly okay to not like it and change it to things that make sense to me. I don't really care if it's something that the creators thought would be funny or an honour or whatever, the game is a sandbox right? So if you don't like something you can change it and I did. That's all!

I have a dormie named Cory Bear - such a cute name, but sadly a very ugly Sim (though, if he's a clone of the last one with the same appearance, he's a really nice guy and someone will marry him for his personality sooner or later).

Re: The real-life Goopy Rossi, I think I've said this before, but given his Italian surname I'm guessing his given first name is Giuseppe and it got shortened to Goopy because somebody couldn't pronounce it.

I had a dormie in the GS Uberhood whose name was Herman Shepherd.

I wanted to move him in so much, but he spawned late in the challenge and nobody had time to befriend him.

Well in my Beginning of Pleasantview neighbourhood one of the Gardeners that were generated is named "Andy Grove". Kind of a neat coincidence.

I always thought lots of the staff that worked on the Sims was Indian (not AMERICAN Indian), hence names like "Goopy". When I worked with company testing a huge new computer system for California, lots of the testers were Indian. I remember one named Goopta, and people called him Goopy.

While Armand Debateau was waiting at the Lulu Lounge for his date to arrive, a chubby Downtownie wandered past. Her name, appropriately enough, was "Belly."

One of the Tricou descendants randomized as "Kacper McGraw." They all had unsuitable names, but that was the one that really stood out.

Once again from sims 4 I had a family spawn in with the last name Paulsen. Unfortunately, they aren't related to actor Rob Paulsen. He was known for the voice of Raphael and Dontalleo from TMNT, Yakko from Animaniacs, Brick, Butch, and Major Glory from the Powerpuff Girls, and Coconut Fred from the Spongebob ripoff known as Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island.

A downtownie in my game has the same name as an American dad character.

A waitress in my Veronaville world has the Leelaporn last name.

I done a number of changes to the name lists.
-first name lists same for both genders of both human and stray.
-human last name lists same for both genders.
-kind of merged shipped version lists.
-added names of various pre-made characters to the lists; first names to first name lists, last names to last name lists.
-added zodiac signs to all lists.
-added season names and month names to all lists.
-added various pre-made neighborhood names to all lists.
-names of length 2 through 4 letters common to first name and last name lists.
-first names of length 2 & 3 names also having all-cap equivalents.
