Here's yesterday's group-pic: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...ching-810072191 Sadly, no birthday cake or candles (flammable and bad for birdies). Still, a cute pic.

Look at those little angels! I'm dying to see the colors of the younger ones.

The younger ones will be getting their feathers soon. Here's some pictures BTW:

Yellow Birb: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...ellow-810185775
Barred Birb: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...arred-810185947
Two Eldest Birbs: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...aypen-810186238

This is so exciting! Just 22 days ago there was only one baby and that baby looked like a raw chicken. It's amazing how quickly birds can develop.

Each picture is cuter than the one before it. Big Birb has some white on him. He looks like banana pudding! His brother or sister is really catching up to him. And the third one looks like he's going to be yellow, too.

They are so cute. How on Earth do you ever stop looking at them and playing with them? That would be my full-time job.

Well, it can be hard to stop looking at them. Big Birb is quite the nibbler too. The thing is, baby birds need to be kept warm or they can get sick. They can also get stressed from being held for too long when they're still very little.

Here's a nesting box pic: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...p-Pic-810288540
And a playpen group pic -. with two more birbs: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...aypen-810289299

The second-youngest baby is going to be a blue and white, so Mama Birb is a latent blue! Can't wait to bring the youngest into the playpen <3

I can't stand the cute! I was so afraid you weren't going to have a blue one. It looks like the littlest one is trying to grow some blue feathers, too. They are getting so big. Adorbs.

They are really cute. We found a budgie years ago in our yard and kept it a few years. I am not one for captive birds but you and your family seem to be dedicated bird lovers and very kind to them. I admit I do stare at them (budgies) at Petco and they are fun to watch.

Aww thank you! @smorbie1 @HCAC - wanted to have some friendly budgies and see if any of them would learn to talk. And we'll have to see if the youngest is going to be blue and white or green and yellow. We also have another couple that might be heading for the 'love shack' in their own cage. Budgies really make life more colourful.

Edit: Here are some new pics for Day 24:

Nest Box: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...g-Box-810440110
Playpen: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...aypen-810440470
Close-Up of Youngest Babies: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...abies-810440741

Probably not going to put the youngest two into the playpen again for a few days because they are pretty young, but I wanted to take a picture of them outside the nest box and show you their white feathers. They're cute, aren't they?

Well, it's day 25 and look at how the babies have grown! Sunny D. - the eldest one - may be a female because the Ino-trait (in albino and lutino) is sex-chromosome linked and birds have different sex-chromosomes than mammals. Male birds have matching sex-chromosomes - two Z-chromosomes - and females have different ones - a Z and W chromosome. I found that the Ino-trait is Z-linked, so Sunny D. is probably a female.

Anyway, here's today's pics:
In the nesting box: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...-Fast-810570800
In the playpen: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...-Time-810571323

I put Sunny D. back into the nest box after a couple minutes because she was breathing heavily and when I put her back into the nest box, she stopped. I think she was stressed. My mum wanted to keepher out longer and thought she was just overheated, but something told me that the bird was stressed. I think female budgies tend to have shorter fuses and are more likely to get stressed - and that may go double for lutinos.

You were right. When in doubt, err on the side of health for the cute, adorable, babies. I love Sunny D.'s name. Have you chosen names for the rest?

Nope! We still have all five! The youngest was kinda covered up, but we still have five living baby budgies! Gonna upload some new pics soon!

Edit: Here's a new pic - Day 27 and all are in the playpen together! https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...aypen-810763688

Sunny D. has even been getting out of her nestbox and getting back in all by herself! She's still learning to step up, but hopefully she'll get the hang of it soon.

Beautiful! I can't thank you enough for allowing us to be part of this.

Sunny D, climbing in and out of playpen :3 :3 :3

They are all just so adorable. It still looks like the two youngest ones might be at least partly blue.

Aww you're welcome! And Sunny D didn't climb out of the playpen (though I wouldn't put it past her) but she did climb out of her nesting box.

Anyway, here's Day 28, in the playpen: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...s-Old-810889641

They are so cute. The two little ones look really chunky in their pin feathers. Beautiful babies.

Boy, if your other budgies have babies, you are going to be living in a swarm of birbs.

Isn't it too early for them to learn to fly? Do they do that before they learn to perch?

Fledging basically just means getting wings capable of flight, from what I read. The babies will learn at their own pace - especially Sunny D. I'm glad you like the two little ones, as I took another picture of them today.

First here's the group pic: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...aypen-811029554
Then the two blue-and-whites: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...abies-811029843
Finally the middle-chick: (hope he doesn't have too many issues with being in the middle) https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...Chick-811029990

Just think... in a couple days, Sunny D. will be a month old!

I can't believe it. She's changed so much in just a month's time. She is quite a lovely girl. She really does look sunny

The two babies are just adorable. They remind me of the one (or two) kids in every group that are a little smaller and more immature than the rest. I'm glad they have each other. lol

I hope the middle one doesn't have a complex, too. He or she is absolutely gorgeous. Not an ugly one in the bunch. Imagine that. Beautiful babies.

Thank you! I think the middle budgie is pretty comfortable with his or her place in the clutch. The three younger ones all have each other, I think. Anyway, here are today's pictures:

Squee! I am officially in love with the two babies. They are going to be unbelievably beautiful. I'm really not showing favoritism. I'm also officially in love with the bigger babies, too. :3

It looks like number 2 (you have GOT to name them) has one green feather. It's little things like that which makes each one special and unique.

I was oohing and aahing over the picture of #3 and the baby baby. I'm going to miss those fat little marshmallow peeps when they start looking more grown up.

How big is Sunny D. compared to her mom?

Sunny D is around the size of her mother, I think. She and Kiwi (her eldest sibling) have both fledged the nest, and Papa Birb is trying to mount Sunny D, but she is NOT having any of his nonsense. It's just budgie behaviour, and if it continues, we may have to move him out until the rest of the babies have been weaned.

Anyway, here's a pic I did of four photos I took today: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...n-Fun-811384859
Got some good shots, but Sunny D didn't want to keep still.

Just stunning. I love the name Kiwi!

Tell Papa Birb I will report him to the birby authorities for trying to have his way with his own daughter (I know, I know. Allow me to keep my faux anger).
